How It Works

ABC Notation

ABC notation is a plain-text music notation format. A tune begins with header fields (X: reference number, T: title, M: meter, L: default note length, Q: tempo, K: key) followed by the note body. Notes are written as letters A-G (upper case = low octave, lower case = high octave), with sharps as ^, flats as _, and natural as =. Bar lines use | and repeat signs use |: and :|.

MusicXML

MusicXML is an XML-based interchange format supported by Finale, Sibelius, MuseScore, and most notation software. Paste the raw XML text or drop a .xml file. The viewer converts it to ABC notation for rendering; complex features like cross-staff beaming or multiple voices per staff may be simplified.

Transposition

The transpose control shifts every note by the selected number of semitones before rendering and during playback. Use it to move a piece into a more comfortable range for your instrument without rewriting the notation.

Audio Playback

Audio is synthesized in the browser using the ABCJS MIDI-synth engine and the Web Audio API. No files are uploaded; everything stays on your device. The tempo slider scales playback speed (25% to 200%) relative to the written tempo.

Export

Use "Export SVG" to download the rendered score as a scalable vector graphic, suitable for printing or embedding in documents.
